A. Performance: Matt
Emphasized that Improv origins are in social improvement. Improv as a method of collaboration. Joint initiatives with other various teams, e.g., create Contact, Education programs; filiming all Project events, starting with Build a Greener Block. Create podcasts, serials, scripts, etc, as well as training for various disciplines. See especially collaborations with Content Creators, Team H, below.
B. Green: Ciara Bryne
Empower the community to make a better neighborhood & promoting the start-ups of eco-businesses. It’s first major "product/project" is Build a Greener Block, http://www.greenerblocks.com, April 28/29, 2012.
C. Music: Eric Hollar
Music hackathon festival planned in about 3 mos and initiatives to encourage music in schools, as well as locating a venue for a Music Hub [e.g., Save the Huntridge]
D. Makers: Brian & Susan Hinton [SynShop.org]
This is an established group with about 140 members, which is planning to find a permanent location, as well as funding and legal planning to expand its programactic reach and community impact.
E. Art & Creative: Mark Johnson
Various ongoing initiatives such as Design Drip and Frist Friday. Commitment to create a Sculpture Walk to connect and to enhance various hubs and green spaces throughout the Downtown Project area.
F. Health & Wellness: James Wong [Real Results Fitness] & Loralei
Started downtown running club; developing downtown fitness guide, downtown, outdoor boot camp – Tuesday & Thursday; new gym just opened Charleston & Commerce. Various efforts to jumpstart fitness and to connect the suburbs to downtown, starting with Sunday get togethers for stretching, exercising, and meal planning/gathering to start the week off right.
G. Education: Brian Egan & Jeff
Educational videos and workshops. Content creation. Not just Tech Ed. Leverage SkillShare platform. Initially, create a corp of trainers to train and motivate others in the community to share their skills and to encourage and empower them toward public speakings and valuable skills. A commitment to create at least 30 SkillShare classes in the next six months. Serious discussions of various detailed tech training intiatives toward real job development.
Will meet every Thursday from 1730-1900 to plan ongoing trainings, strategies and intiatives.
H. Content Creators: Doug [aka Shift Studios]
Already taught citizen journalism class using smartphones. Chronicling and videotaping all Downtown Project related activiities, including the upcoming Build a Greener Block project. Training grips, writers, videographers, related skills toward employability. Crosstraining skills. Video productions and telling stories. Leveraging available and growing programs such as Bootstrap studios and related funding and resources via YouTube and others. Locating a home for the Shift Studio Hubs and related businesses.
I. Technology: Shovannah
StartUp Weekends already have taken place in July and November 2011 and others are planned on a regular, ongoing basis.
Push to promote the VegasTech label and destination for startup developments regionally, nationally, and internationally, at venues such as SXSW.
Continuing initiatives such as the weekly Thursday Vegas Jelly, / usr / lib, Ruby on Rails, LaunchUp LV, Ignite Vegas, other VegasTech initiatives and awesome startup creation and encouragement. Emergent example is nextgenvegas.org for gaming next generation training and cutting edge training.
