Ciara and Brandon,

At Ciara's request, found at http://ayloo.net/post/q/57472#comments, I have applied for Greener Blocks to register at the UNLV Festival of Communities.
Below is the information that I filled out on behalf of Greener Blocks … the automated responses that I got in return and confirmation notice.

I am sending this information to you two because I do not have Shavonnah nor Hanan's email addresses.

I volunteer to man the booth all day.  Of course, the more participants and the wider variety of community partners there, the better.  Which is why I am hard copying this information to various grassroots community contacts of mine whom I am encouraging to join in our efforts!

Regards,

Rick

4. Thank you

About
What would a better, greener community look like to you? Come and build it with us! April 28-29, 2012 Downtown Las Vegas!
Mission
Building sustainable communities together, one block at a time.
Description
What if we took a rundown forgotten block and rebuilt it into a model community? What if we upped the anty and said everything about it had to promote green, sustainable living? What if we did it in 6 weeks? Well we are! April 28-29, 2012
For background details, please refer to
http://www.indiegogWho We Are and What We're Doing:

Build a Greener Block (BABG) is a community of Las Vegans looking to take over an empty block in downtown Las Vegas on April 28th and 29th.  For this one weekend we’re transforming the block into a living community.  Instead of empty stores there will be a restaurant offering healthy food, a boutique, a café, flower shop.  We will have a dog park and fitness classes from yoga to an obstacle course for kids.  The streets will be lined with food stands and local farmers selling their vegetables.  There will be classes for all the family – from gardening and canning to learning how to make your own instrument.  And plenty of entertainment – bands street performers, comedians – you name it.  And we want to do it all in the most sustainable way possible– we will use solar power, biodegradable utensils.  Everything will be recycled and upcycled.  Why?  Because we want to show that when all of us come together as a community we can change our neighborhoods.  We can change our towns. We can change our cities.  We want to show that when we join our skills, talents, experiences and resources together we can create the kind of Las Vegas we all want to live in.  But we need your help to build a greener block here in Las Vegas. Donate a few dollars and join us  April 28 and 29 for all the fun.o.com/greenerblocks?a=519136

Please note that since this such a community event which is broad and welcoming in its approach and design, I am using my personal address and phone number to coordinate and to expedite arranging an information booth for Greener Blocks at this UNLV community event.  We all welcome and encourage any suggestions about how to make our collaborative community event better!  Please email or tweet or post your feedback and suggestions at the various links above.

2012 Festival of Communities – Registration

1. Welcome

Thank you for your interest in getting involved in the Festival of Communities 2012!

UNLV’s Festival of Communities began in the spring of 2007. The event was created to celebrate and demonstrate the rich cultural diversity of UNLV and the Las Vegas valley. The program has grown from a few dozen booths and 1000 participants to a celebration that now features more than 180 booths and attracts more than 7,000 to the UNLV campus each spring.

Honoring its roots, UNLV's Festival of Communities continues to highlight student organizations showcasing various cultures through food sales, artifacts, and performances. But newer additions, such as the Kids Zone, hourly campus tours and the Research and Creative Activity Symposium have become an integral part of the event as well.

Festival of Communities also celebrates many other unique aspects of life in the Las Vegas Valley with booths featuring:
– Local Hand Made Crafts (Non-Commercial local craft artisans only)
– Art (painters, photographers, etc.)
– Sustainability Efforts (Gardening, green technology, etc.).
– A Farmers Market
– Non-Profit Volunteer Organizations

It surely is fun for all ages!
