QR codes and other emergent packaging technologies: Read and Create the Labels for Gawad Kalinga’s Center for Social Innovation, GKCSI, related goods..

Below is part of an ongoing exchange on brand management, labeling and marketing of consumer and Fair Trade related goods that have been created, and will continue to be developed and created, by Gawad Kalinga's Center for Social Innovation, http://www.gk1world.com/gkcsi
The information exchange was started and stimulated by a posting by Noel Weng at https://www.facebook.com/groups/139779196073130/?notif_t=group_activity
which is the vibrant Facebook interactive group of GKCSI.

Christmas decorations shopping and I've been finding a handful of Philippines Parol like Christmas tree toppers made in the Philippines! … And their selling quick as I got one in Target the week before and found out today they're all but sold out… These Parol are undeniably Filipino, my only complaint was the little to no reference of it being a Parol and from the Philippines (outside of it being made in the Philippines) … It's as if they were simply mass produced, and even if they were, the story behind the Parol is all but shadowed and I would hate to see such a traditional Filipino cultural art piece to be unsung internationally

    • Rick Passo You could suggest that if, for example, a simple, little display card with a little bit of the "story" associated with who produces the product is placed with the items, then people would have something wonderful besides the ornament to "take home" and to celebrate during the holidays.

    • Rick Passo Better yet, of course, would be placing some sort of QR code on the packaging. People could simply scan it with their smartphone and all sorts of information would be provided.

    • Rick Passo Target is very responsive to their consumers. And, you could mention CSI too. Of course, the Target facebook page is only for a sentence or two… Anything more should be sent directly to Target and not attempted to be posted on their facebook page.
