– Nearly 40 committed
partners have decided within the next few days to come together during these tough economical times to
help literally thousands of families in need. In addition, there will be over 80 different vendors representing
a variety of services for not only youth but the entire family through entities such as various educational
institutions from K-12, technical and higher education; medical institutions; health insurance companies;
business opportunities; psychosocial agencies; a multitude of family services and youth support agencies;
Super market vendors; law enforcement; entertainment organizations; telecommunication companies; Just to
name a few. The Partners and many others will be hosting one to Nevada’s largest
Back to School Health & Educational Fair (BTSF) on Saturday, August 20, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. to
12:00noon at CSN ~ Cheyenne Campus 3200 East Cheyenne Ave. N Las Vegas, NV 89030.
Additional FREE activities for the youth/families include: dental check-ups, eye exam screenings
(youth/adults), youth physicals, hair cuts, immunizations, school supplies, blood pressure & blood sugar
checks for family members, youth/family education and prevention program information. Families can also
learn about how to sign-up for various insurance benefits and much, more!!
The event has grown each year and will include following
“What Peace Means To Me” dance, music
fashion entertainment coordinated by Mexico Vivo Dance Company who will also show case various acts
immediately following the fair inside the Horn Theater at CSN starting 11:30am to 1:00pm.
Also scheduled is a Town Hall Meeting coordinated by NICRP, the Children’s Leadership Council, and Voices for
America’s Children in partnership with Nevada Youth Alliance following the “What Peace Means To Me”
entertainment. Town Hall Meeting will take place inside the CSN Horn Theater from 1:15 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.
The objective is to raise awareness and educate families in our community about Domestic Discretionary
spending caps, the federal budget, and other legislation related to children and families. In addition, the
meeting will explain how the budgetary measures will affect the families already struggling to provide their
children with basic school and health resources.
