David C. Williams
Bio: David C Williams is a Part-Time Instructor in the UNLV Department of Finance, w/a real-world focus on undergraduate entrepreneurship and finance via the case method. Dave has been involved in technology/mobile telecom startups both in Europe and the United States and has also lived/worked in South America. He earned his MBA in International Business and Finance from the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas and is licensed as a CPA in the States of Nevada and Maryland. Other industry experience includes investment/commercial banking, real estate and oil/gas. Dave is an avid marathon runner and outdoors enthusiast (loves Las Vegas weather), foodie/wine fanatic and is active in the Las Vegas diplomatic community.
Bio: Kara Kelley is a proven CEO with expertise in business and political strategy as well as significant marketing and organizational leadership skills. She has built a reputation as a tireless advocate for small business and free enterprise. She is a media-relations specialist on business issues. As president of The Kelley Company, she advises companies on branding, business strategy and organizational development.
Bio: A veteran of 4 startups (one of which conducted a successful IPO), Rick Duggan is currently Director of Website Systems at Zappos. While focused on technology, he also has a strong background in operations, business planning, product feasibility, and agile software development. Originally from New York City, he lived in Richmond, Virginia, before relocating to Las Vegas in January, 2008. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Georgia Tech.
Bio: Chuck Berg is an experienced and successful technologist and engineering leader whose multi-faceted career includes experience with large public companies, small startup companies, and non-profit organizations. He\’s led the development of numerous high-performance software systems and innovative products, utilizing a wide range of technologies, for a variety of industries, and is known as a visionary with a history of developing technologies well ahead of their time. A 22-year veteran of Silicon Valley, Chuck was a founder, early employee, \”turn-around\” leader, or consultant to almost 2 dozen startup companies. He played a key role in raising over $30M in private and venture money, did an IPO with one company, and sold two others for a total of over $200M. Chuck now lives in Las Vegas and is working as a Lead Software Developer in the Corporate IT Department at Station Casinos, Inc.
Bio: Monica Coburn is a Vice President, Senior Business Relationship Manager with Wells Fargo Bank’s Business Banking Group. She is responsible for managing a portfolio of business clients, with annual business revenues ranging from $2 million to $20 million. She assists with all related business banking needs, including financing, equipment leasing, operating lines of credit, international banking, etc. She has over 15 years of experience in the banking and financial services industry. Previous to her current position, she served as a Senior Vice President, SBA Lending Manager for a local community bank managing the bank’s Small Business Administration’s loan portfolio in 3 different markets, including NV, Arizona and southern CA.
She has assisted small businesses with their financing needs including startups, business expansions, partner buyouts, commercial real estate purchases, ground up construction, etc. and has funded in excess of $100 million in business loans over her banking career.
Bio: Colby B. Springer has experience in all fields of intellectual property law, advising clientele at every level of business development—from start ups to public companies. Mr. Springer counsels clients on acquisition and protection of intellectual property portfolios, specifically with regard to patents. Mr. Springer has also represented a number of companies in patent, trade secret, copyright and antitrust suits. Additionally, Mr. Springer has provided counsel to various clients on interference and re-examination proceedings pending before the United States Patent Office.
Mr. Springer has worked with a diverse group of clientele including Sony Computer Entertainment; network security provider SonicWALL, Inc.; Ruckus Wireless, a leading supplier of wireless solutions; ZONARE Medical Systems, Inc. (makers of the world\’s first convertible ultrasound system); engineering and research development firm Pax Scientific; and many others.
Bio: Anna continued her economic development career by joining Nevada MicroEnterprise Initiative (NMI) in 1995 as a Training Facilitator and Business Technical Advisor to her current position of Operations Manager and Women’s Business Center Project Director. Prior to joining NMI, Anna owned and managed two very successful businesses.
Anna brought to NMI over 27 years of experience and knowledge in finance, banking and retail management, which enable her to assist the micro business owners (start-up and existing) to overcome their many challenges. Since 1991 to date; NMI has assisted over 17,000 Nevadans through entrepreneurial training, business technical assistance and microloan programs, of which 68% are women. Anna received numerous awards for her works, to include the 2000 SBA’s Financial Services Advocate of The Year, the 2008 Women of Distinction Award by the National Association of Women’s Business Owner (NAWBO) – Southern Nevada Chapter, 2009 Women Business Enterprise Council-West – Nevada Partner Organization of The Year, 2010 Community Specialist of the Year – Nevada Minority Supplier Development Council and 2010 SBA Small Business of The Year Award – Michael Graham Entrepreneurial Spirit of The Year Award.
