Vice President Jejomar C. Binay, graces the GK Hope Ball in Las Vegas as he talks
to residents of GK Bagong Silang in Caloocan via a video conferencing facility powered
by Globe Broadband. The event centers on the turnover of over $350,000 for
the building of 150 houses for underprivileged families in the area.

Gawad Kalinga partners with Globe Telecom for the GK Hope Ball held in Las Vegas, USA, where Vice President and Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) Chairman Jejomar Binay was the Guest of Honor. Globe provided high-speed broadband connection that allowed free video conferencing between guests at the GK Hope Ball in the United States and the GK community in Bagong Silang, Caloocan City, the beneficiary of the Las Vegas event.

Through the video conference, underprivileged families in Caloocan were able to witness the turnover of over $350,000 in cash that will be used to build 150 homes in the GK USA Hope Village in Bagong Silang, Caloocan. At the same time, donors and patrons of GK in the USA witnessed 30 families receiving keys to their new homes at the GK Village.

Binay lauded GK for its initiatives to address the issue of shelter in the Philippines, and for getting private individuals and corporations like Globe Telecom to lend a helping hand to the national government. The Vice-President also committed to help provide livelihood opportunities to residents of GK Bagong Silang.
