Donors’ Dividends

Microfinance has been nurtured through grant support across the globe because of its outreach to the poor. Recent developments throw up some tough questions for grant makers.  Their support has nurtured different ‘models’ ofmicrofinance. None of these has as yet proven its efficacy in reducing poverty.


It was one of those somewhat lax afternoons when the pressures of work seemed to be a little less than usual.  I took a meditative sip of the steaming cup of tea in front of me, as I asked my friend for the latest happenings in the sector. For the uninitiated he is a veteran of the Microfinance Industry and from what I could gather in our last conversation the industry seemed to be going through some testing times.
